Obesity is a growing health concern that affects millions of people worldwide. While Diet and exercise are the traditional methods of weight loss, many people turn to prescriptions medications and medical procedures for additional help. Two recent developments in this field are Semaglutide and NAD for weight loss.

Why Semaglutide and NAD for weight loss?

When a person gains weight or has a weight problem and it has been going on for a number of years, blood sugar disregulation is often at the center of this vicious cycle. When our metabolism doesn’t work and blood sugar climbs higher and higher, we see cortisol concerns that can indicate thyroid problems. They are often linked. Weight is now a health issue. Combating it purely with diet and exercise may not be enough. Often, it isn’t. Using Semaglutide with NAD is a targeted approach to battle the pathology of Obesity that has many branches of other growing health concerns.

Semaglutide, what is it and how does it work?

Semaglutide is a glucagon-like peptide-1 (GLP-1) receptor agonist that was approved by the FDA in June 2020 for the treatment of obesity. GLP-1 is a hormone that helps regulate appetite and glucose levels in the body. Semaglutide works by mimicking the effects of GLP-1 and slowing down gastric emptying, thereby reducing food intake and increasing feelings of fullness. Studies have shown that semaglutide can lead to significant weight loss, with patients losing an average of 8-10% of their body weight in a year. The drug is given as a once-weekly injection and is recommended for use in conjunction with a reduced calorie diet and increased physical activity.

NAD, what is it and how does it work?

NAD (nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide) shots are intravenous infusions of NAD+ (the active form of NAD) that are used for a variety of purposes, including weight loss. NAD is a coenzyme that plays a crucial role in the body’s energy metabolism and cellular repair processes. The theory behind NAD shots for weight loss is that increasing NAD levels can help improve metabolism and increase energy levels, thereby promoting weight loss. While the use of NAD shots for weight loss is still in its early stages, some studies have shown promising results. A recent pilot study found that NAD shots led to significant weight loss in obese individuals, with patients losing an average of 6.5% of their body weight in a month. However, more research is needed to confirm the long-term effectiveness.

NAD and Semaglutide for weight loss and healing.

I hope you have a better understanding and the reasoning behind using these two healing agents. We decided to partner these medications so we can address the pathology of obesity and all of its complexities. By using both, in tandem, we can work towards avoiding the need to stay on a medication for life. No one wants to have to take a medication forever. The goal is to solve the puzzle, to find the core systems in the body and repair them. Our body is built to heal. Our bodies, just need help and support. We use the NAD to repair, energize and remove inflammation, and use the Semaglutide to address glucose disregualtion.

Clients recently asked us to carry and distribute Semaglutide and at first I was against it. There is so much hype on this medication and it has some tough side effects. Mostly nausea. There is a concern that once you use it, you have to keep taking the medication or you gain the weight back. It is also ridiculously expensive and there is a world wide shortage in the traditional pharmaceutical world and many women are being denied now by their insurance companies and being charged $1500 dollars a month for this medication. That is just one of many stories i have heard over the last few months from clients who now cannot afford medication that was helping them.

So why do it? Do I have to do both?

So why would I want to give Semaglutide to my clients? I didn’t at first, but as i began the journey of digging deeper into the research of both NAD and the medication Semaglutide, I started to understand how the body responds to these drugs and what mechanisms they impact and what we needed to target, for long term successful weight loss. We could see how to pinpoint specific core systems that needed to be addressed, to ensure good results. ie. metabolic syndrome, insulin resistance, hypothyroidism, hormone imbalances, fatty liver disease and high cortisol. NAD alone has shown to be a powerful healing agent that addresses these complicated health concerns. We came across valued research that supported the concept of partnering these two agents so we could engage our clients in a more holistic approach to weight loss. I recommend doing NAD on its own. However, many people were requesting that we carry Semaglutide. After careful consideration, we decided we could pair these two and have healthier and safer outcomes. A client can choose one or the other vs. combining them.

I also have a lot of compassion and passion for bringing healing to our community that is financially equitable. Semaglutide can be expensive and is now being compounded by private labels and I want to note: There are many companies offering this medication and charging people ridiculous amounts of money.
