Arvigo Techniques of Maya Abdominal Therapy® (ATMAT)

The Arvigo Techniques of Maya Abdominal Therapy® are founded on the ancient Mayan technique of abdominal massage. A non-invasive therapy that addresses both men’s and women’s health issues, its primary focus increases energy and circulation of blood, lymph, and nerve impulses to the abdominal and pelvic organs.

Cupping is an Ancient healing modality that has been used for several thousand years throughout the ancient world, from areas in Africa, the Middle East, and Asia, and in Jewish, Muslim and Buddhist traditions. Cupping is now a well known medical treatment used in traditional physical medicine through out the world.

Fire cupping uses a flame inserted into a glass cup, removing oxygen from the cup to create suction when placed on the body. The suction draws old, stagnant blood and lymph from deep tissues to the surface, where the body can more easily “clean it up” by the lymphatic system , making room for new, fresh blood to flow through the affected area.

Cupping is beneficial to use for musculoskeletal pain, inflammatory conditions, the early stage of the common cold, emotional stress, and more.

Cupping will often leave marks on the skin that are temporary. These marks can last for a few days and don’t usually create discomfort for the client physically. When this happens, it is often an indicator that not only was it beneficial to have the cupping done but can lend itself to how often a client should be using this modality to help detox and relax the tissue that has been congested.

What can I expect in a Maya Abdominal Therapy session?

We begin with assessing your overall health history and goals. Your in person session will include an abdominal, hip, and back massage. Whether in person OR virtual, I will teach you how to perform self-care so you may continue the practice at home. Depending on your needs, I may recommend other supportive treatments, such as herbal remedies, to enhance your treatment results.

What can I expect after a Maya Abdominal Therapy session?

As ATMAT moves energy and opens chakras, you may experience both physical and emotional releases. For some, these changes occur during the sessions and for others, after. I will work with you to help you navigate through these changes!
